The quality of the scuba diving in Malta is one of the main reasons that many people choose the Maltese Islands for their holiday. Malta polled as 3rd best diving location in the world as voted by readers of Diver Magazine in 2009 and went up to 2nd in 2013. The Islands (including Gozo & Comino) have an abundance of dive sites throughout their crystal clear waters. Rocky reefs, caves, plentiful marine life and wrecks from wartime activity all combine to produce unforgettable diving experiences. Diving in Malta or Gozo provides an excellent opportunity for both beginners and experienced divers alike with courses available to take you to the next step right up to instructor level. Although diving is most popular during the warmer months, May-October, almost all diving centers across the islands are open for business the year round. Sea temperature in summer rises to around 25-26 degrees & even in winter will be around 16-19 degrees. Even in poor weather or windy conditions, Malta has various dive sites which tend to offer more shelter. But remember, ‘safety first’ when diving in Malta or Gozo.
